Richard Ward

Managing Director

Richard briefly trained at Daniel Galvin before joining Neville Daniel in 1985 and meeting and working with many of the people that remain his colleagues today. After completing his apprenticeship, Richard left to work at Hari’s salon in SW7 before returning to Neville Daniel in the early 90’s to resume his career at a more senior level. Following a change of ownership, Richard met his wife to be Hellen when she was brought in to manage the ailing business. Months later, Richard and Hellen conducted a management buy-out and started the lengthy process of re-building the business. In 1997, after expiry of their lease, they moved to their Sloane Street premises, re-branding as Richard Ward. A further move to their current location in 2005 led to them developing the first ever Super Size Salon in the Capital and cultivating the business to its current position. Richard has an unrivalled media presence - as both resident hairdresser on GMTV’s LK Today and King of the TV Makeover, Richard has worked exclusively on several cult shows such as Trinny & Susannah, Extreme Makeover, Pop Goes the Band and Colleen’s Real Women. Richard teaches seminars in conjunction with Central St Martins for L’Oreal and has a key role as a Fellow of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing. Richard’s philosophy is simple; he wants women to Love Their Look and this ethos echoes through both his salon and his range of hair care and styling products. His vast and loyal clientele are testament to his core salon role as one of the most exceptional hairdressers of his generation.

Hellen Ward

Managing Director

Managing Director Hellen completed her hairdressing training with a chain of concession salons within department stores upon leaving school in 1983. At the tender age of 19 she realised her future lay in salon management and she started running the salon where she original worked. Quickly progressing through the company, Hellen was promoted to Assistant Regional Manager then Regional Manager, managing in-store salons up and down the country from Kendals in Manchester to Rackhams in Birmingham, gleaning a wealth of knowledge that led her to experience salon management at every level. She returned to the South East region in 1990 and was then promoted to General Manager of Harrods Hair and Beauty Salon, Children’s Salon and Barber Shop, transferring in 1992 to grow and develop the bankrupt Neville Daniel business that her bosses had purchased. After meeting Richard, they bought business from the receivers in a management buy-out and set about the task of turning it around by combining Richard’s creative abilities with Hellen’s business acumen. Married in 1994, Hellen and Richard are now parents to Elysia and Oliver. Whilst juggling her motherhood role with her career, Hellen continues to be responsible for the Marketing, Human Resources, branding and development of the company - a role which she relishes for its challenges and diversity. Hellen regular lectures on business both in the UK and internationally and regularly teaches her best-selling courses to other salon owners at the L’Oreal Academy, London.
